Digiscoping
Digiscoping is where you connect a digital camera or mobile phone to a spotting scope to help you get to get better images of birds, nature, celestial bodies and much more.
I became interested in taking photos like this as we live close to a recognised whale nursery and every year we are visited by Southern Wright whales. They use the warmer waters around our coast line to raise their calves before heading back to the wild Southern Ocean. Without a zoom lens its sometimes hard to see the whales in detail. A spotting scope with my phone attached seemed like an affordable way to get up close.
I've been taking photos with my phone done my telescope viewfinder for years, but the spotting scope is a lot more portable to carry around.
