Nightscapes

When you go out aurora hunting there's only one thing that is guaranteed, you'll spend a lot of time looking at and photographing the night sky. What an amazing bonus, hey! I'm always getting lost in awe staring at a starry night sky...it's my second most favourite way to experience awe. The darker the location the more totally awesome it gets. The darkest skies I've ever seen were at Wyperfeld National Park in North West Victoria (a Bortle 1 class sky) and it was surreal. The stars were so bright and the sky so dark that it almost took my breath away and had me close to tears it was that stunning.

I've still have a lot to learn about photographing the night sky, here are some photos I've taken waiting for auroras to show up. I really need to start going out with the intention of practicing Milky Way shots!
