Fence Posts

A few years ago when the St Patricks Day bushfires burnt out many farms in the South West region I volunteered with Blaze Aid to help farmers recover. It was such a rewarding nine months of my life, where I met many amazing volunteers. I was touched by the courage and resilience of so many farmers who had lost so much but were full of grace and a dogged determination to get back on top of things. In that time I learnt how to drive a tractor and became quite well versed in the art of fence building. I was driving fence posts into the ground, building end assemblies, running & straining wire and even learnt a few fancy knots to tie off wire under strain.

From that experienced I developed a fondness for farm fences, I really do appreciate a handsome end assembly and a tightly strung fence. I often find myself driving around admiring fences, and also admiring the survivor posts that have seen better days but continue standing proud. Here is a collection of some of the posts that have taken my fancy.
